Legal & General has partnered with digital healthcare service, Doctor Care Anywhere.
Legal & General is piloting this service with existing Group Income Protection customers, giving insured employees access to video and phone consultations with UK-trained and fully accredited GPs through their computer, tablet or smartphone.
The agreement with Doctor Care Anywhere will help employees manage their healthcare needs online, wherever they are in the world. Employees can book 20 minute consultations with GPs, with appointments available from 8am to 10pm, 365 days a year.
The service also includes a health tracking app, instant specialist referrals and fit notes as well as private prescription pick-up or delivery.
Martin Noone, managing director, Legal & General Workplace Health & Protection, said: “We are very excited about the partnership with Doctor Care Anywhere and the additional value this will bring to employers and their employees as an integral part of Legal & General’s Group Income Protection solution.
“The ease of access to expert medical advice can help towards faster diagnosis and treatment which can only benefit and improve the health and wellbeing of a workforce. Doctor Care Anywhere will provide employees with a safe, simple and secure way to take control of their health.”
Kate Newhouse, CEO of Doctor Care Anywhere, added: “The combined effect of work pressures, busy lifestyles and the difficulties with accessing a GP means that people often neglect their basic healthcare needs. By offering employees the flexibility to see a GP at a time and place that suits them, whether they are at work, home or abroad, and tools to better manage their health, employers can ensure that they have a healthier, happier and more productive workforce.
“Through this hugely exciting partnership with Legal & General, employees will have peace of mind knowing that high-quality primary healthcare expertise is only a few taps away, whenever they need it, and Doctor Care Anywhere is looking forward to delivering the service.”
